Job Summary
The Physical Therapist (PT) is responsible for evaluating, planning, and implementing evidence-based physical therapy services for patients in both acute inpatient and outpatient settings. The PT promotes optimal function and quality of life by restoring mobility, relieving pain, and preventing or limiting permanent physical disabilities. This role requires collaboration with an interdisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care across a diverse patient population.
Responsibilities
• Perform initial and ongoing physical therapy evaluations in accordance with established hospital protocols and professional standards.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on clinical findings, physician orders, and patient goals.
• Provide therapy interventions to patients in the acute care setting, including post-surgical, orthopedic, neurological, and medically complex cases.
• Deliver outpatient physical therapy services for patients with musculoskeletal, neuromuscular, and cardiopulmonary conditions.
• Reassess patient progress regularly and adjust treatment plans accordingly.
• Communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, case managers, and other healthcare providers regarding patient status and discharge planning.
• Educate patients and families on treatment goals, exercises, home programs, and injury prevention.
• Maintain timely and accurate documentation in the electronic medical record in accordance with departmental and regulatory standards.
• Participate in department meetings, in-service training, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Supervise and mentor physical therapy assistants (PTAs), aides, and students as appropriate.
• Ensure patient safety and uphold infection control standards at all times.
Required Skills/Abilities
• Strong clinical reasoning and assessment skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
• Ability to manage a varied caseload and work independently in both settings.
• Proficient in electronic documentation system.
Education & Experience
• Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy program (Doctorate or Master’s degree preferred).
• Current Physical Therapist license in the state of practice.
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.
• 1–2 years preferred in both acute and outpatient settings; new graduates with strong clinical rotations may be considered.
Job Type: Full-time, Day Shift
Pay: $59.00 - $65.00 per hour
