Job Summary

Plans and implements specific treatment programs for individual patients according to the principles and practices of physical therapy. Supervises Physical Therapy Assistant, Physical Therapy Aides and/or Physical Therapy Technicians

Responsibilities

  •          Provides physical therapy services to patients according to a written physician's plan of care. This may include, but will not be limited to:

o   Assessing and evaluating therapeutic/rehabilitative/functional status, and participation in the development of the total plan of care

o   Assesses for muscle strength, mobility, gait, ROM—potential for rehab

o   Directing physical therapy treatment

o   Instructing patients and families/caregivers in the use and care of therapeutic appliances

o   Determining priority needs for physical therapy

o   Reporting to physician patient’s reaction to treatment or changes in condition

·         Initiates physical therapy program and instructs other personnel and/or family/caregiver members in certain phases of physical therapy with which they may work with a patient, as well as instructing them as to the goals of the physical therapy program for the patient by participating in case conferences

·         May train patient in the use of prosthetic device

·         Prepares and submits clinical and progress summaries based on the attainment of goals

·         Participates in discharge planning for patient

·         Prepares and submits a clinical progress summary based on the attainment of goals

·         Participates in peer consultation process

·         Gathers, disseminates and communicates pertinent information

Provides for acquisition , care and maintenance of department equipment and supplies

Required Skills/Abilities 

•    Demonstrates good verbal and written communication as well as organization skills
•    Membership in the American Physical Therapy Association or other professional association desired

Education & Experience

•    Possesses a degree from a baccalaureate or master’s program in physical therapy approved by an accredited organization; doctorate degree in physical therapy preferred
•    Licensed or eligible for licensure to practice as physical therapist within the California
•    Two years of appropriate experience as a physical therapist preferred
•    Possesses and maintains current BLS certification by American Heart Association or American Red Cross

Job Type: Full-time, All Shifts

Pay: $59.00 - $65.00 per hour
