Job Summary

Assists the Director of Nursing Services in planning, developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating and directing the Nursing Service Department, including its program and activities

Responsibilities

•    Review, maintain and develop policy and procedures that are required by licensing and accrediting agencies 
•    and that reflect current standards in the facility
•    Recommend and participates in the development of new hospital or nursing policies and procedures
•    Assist in interpreting Hospital policies, objective and operational procedures to subordinates
•    Assist in maintaining nursing services standards
•    Assist in Quality Assurance Programs
•    Assist in monitoring usages to assure availability and safety of same
•    Assist in establishing and maintaining staffing patters that meet budget
•    Assist with interviewing and selection of the most qualified candidate for vacant positions
•    Assist with assessment of employee performance providing feedback to employee informally and formally on 
•    an annual basis and as needed
•    Discuss discipline and termination of an employee with DON when necessary
•    Assist in developing an annual budget for the facility a within the facility goals and objectives
•    Assist with monitoring the need for Capital equipment
•    Assist in maintaining supplies for respective departments
•    Use interpersonal relations and communication strategies to achieve desired outcomes
•    Provide positive role model to improve department performance
•    Utilizes steps in problem solving process to resolve complex resident and department problems
•    Maintain professional responsibility to enhance personal growth
•    Participate in in-service training and orientation programs
•    Assist the staff in the development and Nursing Care Plans
•    Make written and oral reports/recommendations to the DNS as necessary/required, concerning the operation of the Nursing Service Department
•    Assist the nursing personnel in performing nursing procedures necessary
•    Interpret and represents HHCH to other Hospital Departments, Medical Staff and Community in the absence 
of DNS
•    Understand medical staff and hospital organizational structure
•    Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and positive emphasis as well as a calm environment for staff guest and residents

Required Skills/Abilities 

•    Good critical thinking, communication, and leadership skills.
•    Good planning and problem-solving skills.
•    Knowledge of computers and healthcare software.
•    The ability to work under stressful conditions.
•    Knowledge of state and federal regulations

Education & Experience

•    Current California Registered Nursing or Licensed Vocational Nurse License
•    Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a supervisory capacity in a hospital, skilled nursing facility or other related medical facility 
•    Must have training in rehabilitative and restorative nursing practices

Job Type: Full-time, Exempt

Pay: $140,000- $185,000 annually
